Parole

A Parole grant allows an incarcerated person to serve the remainder of their sentence in the community under supervision, instead of in prison.

Understanding The System

A commutation allows the Governor to reduce a person’s sentence, creating a pathway for them to return home earlier. In Wisconsin, the restoration of this process provides renewed opportunity for individuals who have demonstrated accountability, growth, and rehabilitation, offering a meaningful second chance and a path toward rebuilding their lives.

An expungement is a legal process that allows a person’s criminal record to be sealed from public view (CCAP), but not completely erased.
